About me:
No... I do not have a military or law enforcement background.
And, No... I did not invent any of the techniques I teach.  But I did learn those techniques from some of the best instructors in the U.S.

What I do have is 400+ hours of formal, in-person, and professional training by some of the best instructors in the industry; many of which do have military and/or law enforcement backgrounds. 
I've taken formal classes covering the subjects of:  Defensive Handgun, Tactical Handgun, Competitive Pistol, CCW & Concealed Weapons, Defensive Rifle, Tactical Rifle, Tactical Shotgun, Tactical Scenarios, Situational Awareness, and classes on Mental Conditioning.  I take that training home and spend 100's more hours practicing each of those techniques and putting them to the test so I can pull the best from all of those classes, and then teach them to others.
In addition to my formal training, I have a lifetime of hunting and recreational firearms experience, 15+ years carrying a handgun as a CCW holder, and I have 40+ years of teaching others in various aspects of life.   Lastly, I am a USPSA competitive shooter, an NRA certified Pistol Instructor, and an NRA certified Refuse To Be A Victim instructor.
I've spent 10's of thousands of dollars on travel and class registration fee's, so that I can be my best... and so that I can also teach you.
